Share app with awkward url at LRUG:
  1. in browser on android, 3 dots...share....[scroll right]...QR code;
  2. in (Google) Drive (click Drive from homescreen) upload the newly created .png;
  3. select file, 3 dots...add to home screen;
  4. move icon to first screen by long-hold and swipe left.

Historically it was possible to add a local file to homescreen directly but not in later android versions.
Apps that supposedly help with this are ad ridden and create oversized icons.
I now have 1 tap icons for parkrun-pro url and parkrun barcode.
